Our 2017 'Mantra' JOIN THE RACE - MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!
Our BIG QUESTION for Term 1: What is the message in the bottle?
IN PUĀWAITANGA WE KNOW THAT:
As FRIENDS (hei hoa) we recognise the power of working together
As LEARNERS (hei ākonga) we can recognise what is causing a problem and the impact this problem has on the world
As GUARDIANS (hei kaitiaki) we are part of a collective, responsible community
In Week 11 of Term 1, we held our ECO EXHIBITION! We were able to showcase our INQUIRY LEARNING to our wonderful community, our families and whanau and of course our peers and teachers at school!

2016: Communication Can Create Change
Students in Room 18 are brainstorming what communication may look like as Friends, as Learners and as Guardians.
There is so much learning going on about communication in our school. This student is using flag semaphore to spell out his initials. Can you work out what his initials are?
The Cup Communication Challenge! Using a rubber band & string we had to build 2 structures - no hands were allowed to touch the cups and no other instructions were given! At first some of us rushed into it, not everyone worked together and we didn't always listen to each other. A lot of cups were spilled! It was REALLY challenging to get the rubber bands off the cups once we had stacked them. But we persevered, tried different approaches & realised we had to have clear communication & total collaboration to make it work. When we did this we achieved our goals easily. From this we realised that if we are all on the same page and communicating effectively as a team we can achieve success! Our class now has really clear guidelines for communicating in teams. Communication can create change!
