Team 3 Newsletter Term 2, 2010
Dear Team 3 Families,
We hope that you had an enjoyable holiday with your children.
We are underway again with our teaching and learning for this term after enjoying a break over the holidays.
As the weather gets cooler, children need to wear sweatshirts and shoes to school each day. If you need to buy more uniform so that you have enough for the wet days ahead, all uniform items can be bought from the uniform shop at school between 8.30 and 9.00am each day. A price list is on the notice board outside the office. Please name your children's clothing, especially sweatshirts! During the winter terms, children are welcome to bring slippers to wear in the classroom if they wish to. Sun hats do not need to be worn again until Term 4. To start off the term we will be skipping and doing jump jam as part of our fitness programme. It is helpful if children have suitable footwear for these activities.
The Lagoon Stadium programme continues this term. Rooms 19 and 20 will go to Lagoon every second Wednesday. (Room 21 and 22 have a P.E. programme at school .)
This week, the first week of the term, there is a Book Fair in the library where you can buy books for your children or you may like to donate one to the library. A further notice about the Book Fair came home on Monday.
This term the school wide topic is Cycles. For Team 3 this is mainly a Science topic in which we will be focusing on the water cycle as well as learning about how
water gets to our homes. In Maths we continue our work on addition and subtraction and begin geometry.
We also have a storyteller performing on May 19 and the cost for this is $2.50. As always, if there is a problem with payment contact Mrs Sellars in the Finance Office or your child's Teacher.
School photos, both class and individual will be taken on May 24.
It was good to meet many Team 3 parents at the Parent Teacher Interviews at the end of last term. At the end of this term you will be receiving a written report on your child's progress as well as having the opportunity for another parent interview early in Term 3. Please continue to help your child by reading to them, hearing them read, asking questions and talking about the meanings of words they read. Remember to visit a public library and become members so that you and your children can borrow books from there too.
There are also spelling words and basic facts to practise. Even just a little bit of your time and interest each day can make a difference to your child's learning and help to improve their progress.
On the last day of this term we will be having our annual Poetry Assemblies. In preparation for this all children will be learning a poem and presenting it to their class. Your support in helping your child to practise their poem will be much appreciated when the time comes.
We are looking forward to more learning and enjoyment together.
As always, if you have concerns or questions please contact us either by note or a phone call, we are happy to talk to you.
We look forward to working with you and your children this term.
