School Library & Amenities

The library is computerised, which makes issues, returns and records very efficient. Every class is timetabled to visit the library every week. Pupils can also use the library during lunchtimes, with staff on hand to provide supervision.

We have a very good collection of books and the library is a very attractive environment. Our new Library Information Centre was completed in July 2002. We have a full-time teacher aide, trained in library management, who is available to support teachers and students with research and literacy.

Dental Clinic

Dental clinic is now based at Sylvia Park School: Ph: 570 9310.

School Hall

We have a large well-appointed School Hall which is available for hire outside school hours. The hall has a kitchen, toilet facilities, air conditioning, projector and stage. For all hire enquiries, please contact Karen Sellers in the Finance office, Ph: 579 6434 Ext 827.

Sunshine Coach

The new Sunshine Coach is a 12-seater Ford Transit,  donated by Rotary and the Variety Club.  We are very grateful to both these organizations for making this extremely valuable resource available to the wider community of Mt Wellington / Ellerslie.  The van lives at Stanhope Rd School.  We manage it in partnership with the Ellerslie Sunrise Rotary Club.

Reminder about how to access / borrow the Van:

1. If you would like to book the van Phone 579 6434  Ext 827 and talk to Karen Sellers (or Tirzah Tocker on Fridays).
    Email enquiries:  ksellers@stanhope.school.nz

2. It pays to book as soon as you are aware of an event, as the van is very popular on days like local sports days.... it gets booked very quickly.
On other days there is not so much demand.

3. We do not hire out the van (legality) - however, you are able to borrow it for a half day, whole day or even longer.  It is only available for use by
school groups / educational institutions / youth groups etc. and is reserved for use to transport children / youth.   It is not for adult use - except
as caregivers / teachers / coaches etc.

4. Costs:  There is a donation required to help with the running costs of the van, servicing, insurance, AA membership, road user charges etc.
You are also expected to refill the fuel after use.  This van uses diesel.

•  Half Day: $25.00

•  Whole Day: $30.00

•  Longer Trips - equivalent to Auck / Rotorua:$40.00 per day

•  Further than Rotorua $50.00 per day (or by negotiation)

5. Driver Notes:  The driver needs to be licenced,  competent, able to drive a manual and confident in driving a vehicle that is much larger than a
    car or the previous van.
Please note that in the event of an accident (we hope not)  the hiring school is liable for the cost of the insurance excess.
